Dr. Abolfazl Azami was born in 1979 in Iran. He has been teaching anatomy at the Department of Anatomy in Kashan University of Medical Sciences since 2010. Before, his scientific stations were the Tehran University of Medical Sciences, where he studied Speech Therapy, Iran University of Medical Sciences where he studied Master of Anatomical sciences, and again Tehran University of Medical Sciences, where he obtained in 2009 his PhD which. In 2008-he spent an interim research and education period in the lab of Prof. Dr. Cordian Beyer at neuroanatomy Institute, Uniklinik RWTH Aachen Germany. He started working as assistant fellow position at Kashan University of Medical Sciences in 2010 and became the associated professor there from 2010-1015. He organized several national and international meetings and workshops. His projects were funded mostly by national foundations. The scientific orientation in his team, is mostly focused on the molecular and biochemical understanding of acute neurological and chronic neurodegenerative diseases of the brain like animal models for multiples sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and acute ischemic stroke in order to understand the underlying neuroinflammatory processes and neuroprotective strategies using different neuroactive compounds. He received Teaching Award in 2020 from faculty of medicine Kashan university of Medical Sciences.  He is a member of the Editorial board of several peer-review journals such as Cell Journal (Yakhteh) and Iranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences. To this day, he published more than 55 peer reviewed articles with more than 1000 citations.
